Key takeaways
- If you’re looking for a Used Chevy Traverse with all-wheel drive, then you can look for most trims across both generations, with only two trims as AWD.
- The Traverse comes with 5,000-pound towing capacity in the most recent generation.
- The second generation offers you two engine options to pick from, giving you the option to pick between power, or efficiency.
- The Traverse can be found in both 7, and 8 seat configurations, making it a solid family vehicle, ready for what you need. Making it a great option for soccer moms.
Third generation (2024-Present)
Being the most recent generation, this one may be a bit harder to find on a used lot, but the possibility is there. The trims you can find from this generation are the LS, LT, RS, and Z71. Most trim levels come with the option for FWD or AWD. The Z71 is exclusively AWD.
If you manage to find a Z71, you’ll find that it comes with a 1-inch increased ground clearance, All-Terrain tires, a standard trailer package, and a terrain mode for the drive mode selector. This helps make sure that you are able to conquer what life has to throw at you.
The interior is also outfitted with an 11-inch instrument cluster, and a 17.7-inch touchscreen. This touchscreen is two times larger than previous iterations, making it a desirable option for those who want the best tech.
If you’re needing 8 seats, you’ll need either the LS, or LT. 8 seats comes standard on the LS trim. If you don’t need all 8-seats, and want to opt for some comfort, then the 7 seat configuration will be your best bet. This configuration includes second row captains seats as standard on the LT, RS, and Z71 trims.
No matter which trim you get from this generation, you have the same engine. This is the 2.5L I4 that produces 328 horsepower, and 326 lb-ft of torque. The EPA rates this engine at 23 MPG combined, and can tow up to 5,000-pounds according to Car and Driver.
For 2025 models, the LS trim was dropped, leaving the LT as the base trim. The Premier trim also joined the lineup, as well as the Traverse.
Second generation (2018-2023)
Much like the newest generation, this one came with a few trims to pick from. The trims are the L, LS, LT, Premier, and High Country trims. Most trims were FWD, with the High Country being an AWD exclusive. Two appearance packages were also available, the RS and the Redline Edition.
For the first few years, the 3.6L V6 and 2.0L I4 were available engines. The strongest one being the V6, producing 310 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. The more fuel efficient one was the I4, getting an EPA rated 22 MPG combined. Unfortunately, this engine was only available on the RS from 2017-2019.
Some of the features that you can find from this generation is a hands-free power tailgate, phone connectivity, a power-folding third-row, and standard keyless access. Making it easy to get in and drive thanks to the addition of the bush-button start.
